Delight is a book on the legacy and vision of architect Kevin Monson—a gift to friends and colleagues as he retired from the firm. It reflects the origin story, growth, and impact of his vision and the firm for how we interact with buildings and spaces, inspiring all people today and tomorrow.
Telling the story of Kevin Monson, an architect whose vision has shaped entire landscapes, was an unforgettable design experience. Through interviews with his colleagues and hearing their reflections firsthand, I gained a deeper understanding of how Kevin sees architecture not just as form but as a powerful connector between people and place. Listening to the stories and walking through the spaces he and his team brought to life gave me an even greater appreciation for the subtle details and scale of his work.
The book chronicles the journey of four key employees from 1977 to the present, weaving together stories that reflect the artistry, strategy, and care behind every project. Each spread captures the intersection of a client's needs, an architect's imagination, and the impact that thoughtful design can have on communities, from the places we live to civic landmarks.
I led the creative direction of the book, including format and scale, paper selection, and finish recommendations. I collaborated closely with the printer to produce both soft and hardcover editions, incorporating embossing and debossing to enhance the tactile experience.
One of the most meaningful moments was directing the photoshoot that captured Kevin in the home he designed on a quiet, golden hour fog-filled morning, a moment created by nature itself, which both an architect and designer often draw inspiration from, leaving lasting memories for both of us in this shared appreciation for nature, architecture, and design.
